About Luca's Rainbow Bilingual Preschool II in Springfield, VA

We are a Bilingual Montessori-based daycare in Springfield. We care for children from 4 months to School Age (6 and older) and provide a range of age-appropriate resources and activities to encourage their development right up until they are ready to join school.

Who We Are

Luca's Rainbow Bilingual Preschool II got its start in Springfield in 2023 by Flor Brea. We decided to do things a bit differently at Luca's Rainbow by creating a space which fosters early learning in a fun and safe environment where children from 4 months to School Age (6 and older) can explore the world around them.

We believe our innovative approach gives children a bright and positive start in life as we encourage both exploration and discovery as well as emotional intelligence and building friendships.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is based on learning and creativity. By implementing a Spanish Bilingual blended Montessori method that incorporates indoor and outdoor classrooms and environments in a home-away-from-home environment, we are able to create a space where children feel empowered and ready to learn.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a safe and supportive atmosphere that will encourage each child to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively in a Spanish bilingual environment.

Our Approach

Our low teacher-to-student ratio allows us to focus on each child individually. Teachers work one-on-one with children, allowing them to learn and grow at their own pace using a Spanish Bilingual blended Montessori program.

Our Mission

Our mission at Luca’s Rainbow is to provide young children with opportunities to learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment by providing them with an immersed Spanish bilingual blended Montessori approach.

Our Pink Room is designed to nurture bonds with both baby and their family, fostering a sense of safety and security for your baby. With a low infant-to-teacher ratio, we ensure each child receives personalized care and attention, catering to their individual needs. Our dedicated teachers prioritize continuity of care, establishing strong bonds between infants and their families from the very beginning. Through gentle guidance, we introduce baby signs to facilitate communication between caregivers and infants.

Red Class

12-18 months

Our dedicated Red Classroom fosters strong bonds between your child and their caregivers, creating a safe and nurturing space for exploration and growth. With a low infant-to-teacher ratio, we ensure each child receives the individualized attention and care they need to thrive. Building on the foundation of continuity care, our experienced teachers establish trustful relationships with both your child and your family, promoting a sense of security and belonging. Additionally, we introduce baby signs to facilitate communication between our caregivers and your little explorers, enhancing their ability to express themselves and connect with the world around them.

Orange Class

18-24 months

We understand that children aged 18-24 months need a supportive and stimulating space to discover, develop, and flourish. Our specialized toddler care program provides a nurturing atmosphere where little ones can explore, play, and learn, all while being immersed in either English or Spanish language environments. With a low ratio of teachers to toddlers and ongoing communication between teachers and families, our program ensures that your child receives the personalized attention and care they deserve.

Yellow Class

2 years old

At Luca’s Rainbow, we recognize that choosing the right preschool for your 2-year-old is crucial. You want an environment that is both safe and nurturing while also offering opportunities for your child to be challenged and develop their social and emotional skills. We understand that children at this age thrive in a secure and supportive environment where they can explore, learn, and grow. Our specialized toddler care program provides the perfect balance of nurturing, playtime, and educational activities, all while offering immersion in English and Spanish. That's why our teachers utilize a Montessori blended learning approach paired with bilingual immersion.

Green Class

3 years old

For 3-year-olds, the Green Classroom offers a foundational introduction to more classic learning and social interaction. Through a variety of subjects including literacy, math, science, and creative arts, children develop essential skills such as shape recognition, counting, and storytelling. This stage emphasizes collaborative learning, fine and gross motor skill development, and social communication. Math concepts include shape identification, sorting, and simple counting, while literacy focuses on name recognition, storytelling, and vocabulary expansion, while science topics include exploring insects, plants, colors, and the five senses, and creative arts involve using various materials, exploring different art processes, and engaging in music and dance activities.

Purple Class

3-4 years old

In our purple class, we foster intellectual curiosity and social development through hands-on activities and meaningful discussions. We integrate Montessori methods to encourage self-control, problem-solving, and confidence-building. In our oral language activities, children engage in poems, rhymes, and stories to enhance communication skills, with reading instruction emphasizing print concepts, phonetic principles, and comprehension. Writing activities focus on connecting spoken and written language, while math instruction includes counting, sorting, pattern recognition, and basic measurement. Children can also explore science through observation and investigation, learning about their environment and basic scientific concepts. Social studies introduce children to their community, history, and social science skills.

Blue Class

4-5 years old

While in the Blue Room, children engage in collaborative learning, discovering the power of teamwork and embracing their individual strengths and weaknesses. The curriculum covers a range of subjects, including literacy, math, science, and the arts, nurturing fine and gross motor skills alongside social and communication abilities. In this room we provide a holistic educational experience, preparing children for the next stages of their academic journey while fostering a love for learning and exploration.

Kindergarten Class

School Age 6 and older

In our final room, the Kindergarten classroom, children engage in intellectually stimulating activities that encourage them to investigate their surroundings and suggest, plan, and implement projects.

The curriculum covers various areas:

  • Oral Language: Activities focus on building vocabulary and phonological awareness, including participation in conversations and formulating investigative questions.

  • Reading: Students immerse in a print-rich environment, learning phonetic principles, comprehension, letter identification, and story-related skills through instruction, group activities, and reading materials.

  • Writing: Students make connections between oral and written language, learning to print letters and communicate ideas through drawings, letter approximations, and dictation.

  • Math: Emphasis is on number concepts, sorting, patterns, shapes, measurement, and fractions, with hands-on learning experiences and problem-solving.

  • Science: Students explore their world through observation, studying water, living things, Earth's relationship with the sun, and basic physics principles.

  • Social Studies: Introduction to community-focused topics, including history, citizenship, geography, history, and respect for rules and rights.

Throughout, problem-solving skills are integrated, fostering a holistic educational experience that prepares children for their academic journey while nurturing their curiosity and understanding of the world around them.

All of what the children have learned with us up until this point has been preparing them for the transition into school. By the time they leave us, we aim to have left a lasting and positive change in their lives.

Merging Teaching and Childcare

We offer a variety of programs, including daycare for infants and toddlers, preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten.

We believe that it’s never too early to start learning and that it’s vital to always present opportunities for children to learn and grow as soon as they start at our center.

By developing our programs with curriculum experts and childcare specialists, we’ve been able to hone in on what makes early education a success and created a learning program that allows our children to enter school seamlessly.
